Champagne Label Snobbery

Do we like the taste of a champagne or the label that comes with it? For the haughty supercilious out there who enjoy wallowing in their snobbish lavish lifestyle, serving the best champagne to their friends and guests. Do they really know which champagnes they are drinking.

I can remember fondly many years back watching morning television in the UK when GMTV showed a live test with a small group of posh experienced champagne drinkers. They blindfolded 3 or 4 tasters then proceeded to pour the champagnes, some were expensive and well known names and one of them was Sainsbury's own champagne a much cheaper version than the others sold by the supermarket chain. As they sipped away scoffing at most of the champagnes offered calling them dishwater and other unpleasant names and immensely enjoying one of the other champagnes. So the test was at it's conclusion and the host pulled out the labels of the ones they disliked and liked, much to their surprise the cheapest one from Sainsbury's was their favourite and the ones they disliked the most they described the taste as dishwater but these unpalatable champagnes were very expensive and they drank those particular champagnes back at home.

All they could blurt out was incessant waffle and defending their snobbery and pride by saying the cheap supermarket champagne didn't really taste so nice now they had time to ponder on the wrong label. "We can't allow this on our dinner table, what would our guests think!" Comes to mind lol. Too late the horse has already bolted, it was very embarrassing for the hooray henry's but a prime example of quality doesn't always have to be expensive and label snobbery at it's finest.
