Indian Super League (ISL) debutants Bengaluru FC lost 3-1 Chennaiyin FC in the final of the 2018 edition of the tournament on Saturday. The Marina Machans now draw level along with ATK, who also have two titles.
Bengaluru FC started in fine fashion after Sunil Chhetri put them ahead in the eighth minute with the fastest goal in an ISL final. However, John Gregory’s men proved their mettle as Mailson Alves scored a double before the half-time break.
Sunil Chhetri gave Bengaluru FC an early lead but Mailson Alves equalised for Chennaiyin FC minutes later. Right at the stroke of half-time, Alves scored again to put Chennaiyin FC in front.
Raphael Augusto scored in the 67th minute to all but kill off the game. Miku pulled one back for the home side in stoppage time but Chennaiyin FC held on to become two-time ISL champions.
