We Want to Change the World But Not Yourself - Can We Do It?

We want to change the world but not ourselves. For as long as we live in this illusion that somehow we are separate from the world and it is irrelevant what happens to us. We are the whole world and we are all connected. And no matter what we do to ourselves, we cannot deny that there will be repercussions in the world.


So what do we do to save ourselves? We try to go on pretending that everything is okay, that we do not have to change ourselves. This is especially convenient for those of us who have been groomed to live a corporate, material life. Who wants to change that? No one can live their life like that!

We want to change the world but not ourselves first. We would prefer to believe that if we have good behavior, we can continue to have nice things without having to change. In fact, it is usually easier to keep doing the same old thing than to change and go through the process of change in order to enjoy the changes. We would prefer to have our comfortable life style and not have to take on new habits just to fit into society.

The problem with this line of thinking is that we become self-pitying and start believing that we are helpless and that no one can make any changes in the world for us. We begin to think that if we let go of ourselves and if we completely discard all of our fears and insecurities, then it will be okay to live a mediocre life. If we want to change the world but not ourselves, then we will be sitting back at home and watching the world go by while we sit on the couch and eat popcorn balls. It's not going to be pretty!

So what do we do if we really want to change the world but not ourselves? What do we need to do in order to change ourselves so that we can actually make changes that will have lasting effects on us and on the world? Are there any true solutions? Is changing yourself so that we can change the world really possible?

There are things that you can do in order to turn yourself around in a big way. You can decide that you want to change your life and the world around you for the better. You may decide that you want to change your mind and become a whole new person. You can decide that you want to be healthy and strong and want to make sure that you are fit and strong. These are all genuine desires that we humans have and it is within our capacity to actually do these things.


All of these things are within us and we can use them to our advantage. The only thing standing between us and those things is ourselves. We decide how long we want to make our lives better. We decide whether or not we want to change the world but not ourselves. When we decide that we want to change the world but not ourselves then we are on our way.

We can use this method of decision making to actually make the changes that we want to see in the world. We can use this method to make the changes that are necessary to make our world better for us. We really can want to change the world but not ourselves; then this can be done.
