How charities are changing the world

There are numerous charities and NGOs in today's society that are working to support minority groups or improve quality of life by targeting different issues. Whether they are health-focused (such as groups that are working on cures for cancer or other diseases), poverty-related (like homeless shelters or providing food for communities experiencing extreme poverty) or something else entirely, there is no denying that each of these organizations is playing a role in improving life for people and changing the world for the better.

There are a number of ways in which charities are causing positive social impact and developing the world.

  1. Charities are raising money to address issues in our society and improve quality of life
Money is a coveted resource. While it might not buy happiness, it certainly buys a lot of things that we, as human beings, benefit from in modern society. How can we find a cure for cancer if we have no money to buy equipment and pay staff? How can we feed starving communities if we have no money to buy food? The reality is we need money in order to be able to address these issues and thus fundraising is a core component of a charity's work. It is these finances that allow charities to resolve issues and improve the quality of life for certain individuals. There are also automatic services that let charities extra funds such as AmazonSmile, DealAidOrg and others.

  2. Charities are raising awareness for complex societal issues
There are some issues that fly under the radar, despite affecting a large number of people. Charities are able to bring these issues to the surface by increasing awareness, which in turn gains greater support and funding to work on resolving them. Education is a key component of targeting problems and creating long term change.

  3. Charities are conducting research to better understand issues and have long term impact
While money can address issues in the short term, it doesn't necessarily equate to long term change. Charities are conducting research into particular issues (such as lack of education for underprivileged children) to better understand barriers and factors that are driving the issue. This knowledge helps to implement actions that break, or at least slow, a cycle to create long-lasting change.

By targeting key issues, funding initiatives to improve quality of life, creating awareness and conducting research, charities are playing a key role in creating positive change in the world for generations to come.
