A Little Man Goes Big on an Eagle Scout Project

Cade, a young man of 12, was working to receive his Eagle Scout award. He wanted to do something impressive. Something that not every Boy Scout does, so he went big. He knew that his family was going to Bolivia with CHOICE on an expedition to help a local community there build a school, so he decided to gather enough supplies for the whole school.

To earn the necessary money, he worked for a local furniture store. Once he had enough money, he purchased and laminated close to 2,000 cards as learning tools for the students who would attend the school that he would also help build.

The community was very excited and grateful for the work that Cade had done for the children in their community. On the morning that Cade was to present the supplies an excited crowd gathered. The crowd consisted of the school's headmaster, the students, the community leaders, and many of the parents of the children. "It was pretty cool to see all the smiles. I was happy that the teachers were excited," said Cade. He also worked tirelessly throughout the week helping to construct a classroom that will have one side that is a greenhouse. The students will plant a small garden there that will provide critical nutrients that they are not currently receiving. The greenhouse will also allow in the sunlight that will make the room warm, a big consideration at 13,000 ft elevation.

"It felt amazing, as it always does when you serve," Cade observed when the week concluded.

Congratulations to Cade on such an incredible Eagle Scout project!
