VIDEO> Upvote a tree to make it a Steem forest. Charity starts with Steem. Three more trees planted to day.

in charity •  7 years ago

What if? You could help grow a forest. Well you can by a simple upvote.

Before I continue I must say thank you to all of you who support the Steem Forest Initiative with your upvotes. There are sooooo many to name, but you know who you are and thank you so much for making this happen.

A big shout out this week has to also go to the following for their very generous contributions:

@lukestokes

@loveself

@theywillkillyou

Also I must must mention @artwatch for her ongoing commitment (also very talented) to making this actually happen and is the author of woody wednesday via @porn-watch. Also big mention to @pit-bullion who wrote a fund raising post to support our steem forest.

I have recently taken to writing posts that will enable reforestation in Northern Peru. Upvoted posts plant trees! Today we planted three Neem tree saplings and all thanks to Steem!

In the first step of addressing the issue of local  deforestation.   In partnership with Steem. I have started to plant native tree saplings  around where I live. I have been able to do this  with your simple  upvotes. Simple.

If you liked this video, please also resteem to all your friends and spread the word.

We have raised a total so far of:

Steem-  160
SBD-      131.476

Outcomes to date:

  • 33 native trees planted and 3 Neem trees.
  • One local has so far joined the tree planting part of this project.
  • 480 Peru Soles donated to EcoSwell not for profit: forwarded to their reforestation program.
  • 90.195 SBD and 131 Steem held in savings until price goes up and helps for accounting (check my wallet)
  • Creation of carbon offset directly derived for all Steem activities (takes a lot of energy to propel Steem).
  • Building a socio-enviromental aware community platform on Steemit.

I donate 100% of the SBD earned on the reforestation posts  (like this one) to the Steem forest project fund in partnership with  Ecoswell. This not for profit has a reforestation  program in which they  have small garden nurseries in the village. I get lots of tree saplings  to plant myself from this not for profit. This on behalf of all you  upvoters. If there is any change to this format,   as they might as this  grows, I will inform everyone with a blog post on Steemit.

My first ever post about this: I won some steem on SSC, so I bought a tree and planted it.

Upvote a tree was a seed planted in @jaybird 's Steemit Sandwich Contest

Almost 50 SBD and counting raised from my Raffel to support your cause my man 👍

@pit-bullion You are good EGG even on Easter. Way to go Showing all of STEEMIT and the entire World that Big Things can happen you just have to take the FIRST STEP !! Much Love my Brother..........

true.

You are a legend @pit-bullion

Resteemed to get you some more exposure. I love the attention to detail you put into everything, including ensuring the trees you plant will improve the environment instead of cause it harm. Your commitment to cut it down yourself if a problem ever arises is pretty cool. :)

Bru this is really appreciated and it is amazing to see how many people are helping out. Quite incredible really. I have worked in parks for years (Cape Verde, Mali, Mozambique and Yemen) and these little details can have huge consequences..even if initially well intentioned. The tree seems to have other purposes as produces a natural insecticide. Plus it grows well in places like here. I did quite a bit of research on the subject for Neem, but I couldn't see any issues. I will keep a watch though. The steem forest will be all native plants though.

very well intention @intrepidsurfer
I restored your post to my blog, hopefully your sincere intention of success and smoothly
greetings from aceh , indonesia

Perfect! 100% upvote and a big resteem on it!

thank you for your ongoing support and we really appreciate it.

Love this. So much deforestation going on! It is so sad to see. Here in Cambodia, the illegal deforestation is even controlled by the army! Not so long ago trucks were stopped at the Cambodia-Vietnam border with illegal wood and it was all trucks from the army who supposedly should stop these practices!

I am stoked you like that we are creating the steem forest. Sad to hear about where you are based, but I assure you it happens in more places than you think. It can get quite complicated dependent on perspective.

Planting trees is always something to get excited about!

true :)

Hey @intrepidsurfer! Started following you since you met up with Dan as we follow @world-travel-pro, but didn't know you were doing this initiative. This is a great project and we will continue to back it up with an upvote on your posts going forward! It's only a matter of time before you reach your goal! :)

Hey guys of @travelling-two nice to see you here. Dan is was a hoot when he was around here. Thank you so so much for your support. We appreciate it loads. Oh yes the goal will be reached, then we make the steem forest bigger.

That's great to hear and we'll be supporting you by your side (virtually) to ensure this Steem Forest brings host to a new ecosystem :) full of life and hope!

I will initiate it as of next week. Loads of videos about the process on the way :)

Cool we'll look out of those videos and again great work on your part! :)

thank you :) I got a load more tree saplings today, so loads more on the way.

good idea my friend!!! upvote for your post sorry for the small amount

Any upvote is equal for me, we are all doing our part to help and I thank you for that @erickyoussif

Very honorable. Thank you so much. We need trees!! Loving the thing you are doing. Great work @intrepidsurfer

These are really great results brother! Keep up the noble endevour!

It helps so so much. I am going to initiate the liquidation of my savings wallet in a phased process. I need to get cracking with the steem forest, regardless the price. Bru, couldn't have done it without you.

Steem forest sound pretty cool! I'm glad to help!

I am glad too. I just posted a steem forest giveaway. 3 steem in the pool for people who plant a tree and post about it. I am following your lead by giving something back to the steem community. Each in our own way.

Yea I saw that! Great idea. As soon as it stops fuckin' snowing in Toronto I'm doing some planting lol.

hahaha classic bru. Ok ok, well I aim to do this weekly. One launch post on Sat and a recap on Sunday with another post. Keeping it nice and simple, but also (hopefully) getting loads of people to participate and plant trees across the globe.

Happy to support a great cause. Thank you for planting the trees and thinking about our environment.

it is my pleasure @loveself

Keep up the great work :)! I love this project!

Yay thanks for the shout out. Hope a month of woody wednesdays helped out the project some.

Good to see people like you using your time and energy for everyone's benefit.

Great initiative, @intrepidsurfer! Will any non-profits send you trees from that area? I know the Arbor Day foundation will send free trees, but it might only be good in the US. Keep up the great work!

hello @randomness and thank you for your support. We are in partnership with a local not for profit. They have access to the tree saplings. I just need to organize and get a load more.

Best of luck in your efforts. Combating deforestation is a challenging, but worthy mission.

thank you for being part of this worthy mission.
