Hello everyone! Hope you all are having a great Tuesday today!
A fellow Steemian, @stephen-somers, has written an excellent series of posts about Kiva.org and his experience on that platform. Here’s links to his previous posts:
I warmly recommend reading his posts, if you have never heard of Kiva before and/or if you completely new to the world of microloans and microfinance. I myself have been an active lender on Kiva.org since 2009, and did a field fellowship with Kiva this past summer, but I still very much enjoyed reading @stephen-somers’s posts.
I also want to use this space to tell about Kiva’s “Giving Tuesday” that’s happening today and today only. If you order one or two gift cards for a total amount of USD $50, Kiva will grant you a bonus of $25 that you can use towards lending money to a project or an entrepreneur in the developing world that you deem worth your support. Thus, it won’t be a hand-out, but a hand-up. You can give these cards to your friends or loved ones for Christmas or even use them yourself with your own Kiva account. (My boss had his birthday last month, so I gave him a Kiva gift card. He loved it!!) If you don’t have one yet, you can register in just a minute via this link. It doesn’t cost anything. And then we could maybe even build our own STEEM Lending Team on Kiva, what do you think? :)
As always, your comments and upvotes are appreciated! And, following @stephen-somers’s excellent example, I pledge all STEEM and SBD proceedings from this post towards my next loan on Kiva.org. This is Steem Power for Good!
