Tamil charity foundation's mission and vision are to create a self-sustaining, transparent charity organization. Steem blockchain is the perfect platform to achieve that goal. @tamilcaritycoin is created for this purpose.
Transparency and sustainability are built into Steem blockchain making it our natural choice. We want to grow @tamilcharitycoin into a holder of huge SP so our charity work becomes self-sustaining in the long run. At the same time, we also need funds for the present charity work. Steem does it automatically by spliting upvote rewards into liquid steem and steem power.
Community support in steem is awesome. Steemians can support our charity work just by upvoting our post without spending a single cent out of their own pocket. Another way for steemians to support this noble cause is by delegating their steem power without losing the ownership of the steem power.
Currently, our charity work is limited collecting upvotes from good-hearted steemians and distributing funds to reputed fiat based charity organizations. We are supporting hunger site, a well known us based charity, that is supporting numerous initiatives such as nature and wildlife preservation and humanitarian projects throughout the world. We are supporting one of their projects that is saving little girls from the slave trade in Nepal.

The Tamil Charity Coin - SMT
We are also planning to launch our own Smart Media Token (SMT) on steem blockchain when steemit releases SMT function.
Once the Tamil Charity Coin is launched, initially, we plan to use it reward our supporters and upvoters, delegators and donors. When steemians upvote they will rewarded with tamil charity coins, in addition to what they normally get in steem power from steem. Steem power delegators and donors will get rewarded in tamil charity coins for their contribution.
As the tamil charity coin matures and gains value we will be able to support even more projects and initiating our own projects. Charity work is an ever-expanding space and will continue to be so, as long as the disparity in the distribution of wealth remains. Added to that there are unforeseen natural disasters, war, hunger and malnutrition just to name a few.
The steem blockchain not only helps us fulfill our mission and realize our vision but it helps us create the resources needed, in the form of SMT to accomplish them. But there is a chance of another delay in releasing SMT function by steemit. Therefore we are looking for an alternative to SMT. Recently, Steem Engine has launched Smart Contract Token(SCT) as a side chain on steem block chain. We are looking into the possibility of launching Tamil Charity Coin as a SCT.
