Leaders' Quest Lunch

My feet hurt but that can't wipe the grin on my face right now. I am physically incapable of doing anything other than type this on my phone because I am tired after such a long day but it was one of the most profound days of my life.

This is inside the Tailsman in Karen. It's a high end joint where we (the NGO team I volunteer in prisons with - CleanStart Kenya) and some guests from the Leaders' Quest had lunch before heading to Dagoretti Girls Rehabilitation Centre.

This was to brief them on how to handle the 75 girls we were going to visit together. Our guests took turns in crying as we narrated why we have girls as young as eight in 'prison'. Mind you others just needed a listening ear not sentences.

After this lunch, we headed to Dagoretti Girls Rehabilitation Centre and as it is the rules, you can't take photos while in there so I don't have any photos for you guys.

Dagoretti Girls Rehabilitation Centre is a few kilometres Northwest of Nairobi and houses 75 young girls. They are currently between the ages of 8-15 years. They are usually transferred there from Kirigiti Rehabilitation Centre which is one of the largest of its kind in Kenya.

Leaders' Quest gave us gifts as the CleanStart team and mine was a book I have always wanted to own. Unbowed by the amazing Wangari Maathai. And that's why today was a great day!
