Great points @stackin...with one exception.
They are not using SMTs...their ICO is being released on ETH using the ERC20 and then they are moving over to the STEEM blockchain.
The reason for this was the delay in the SMT protocol forced them into making another move. We are already starting to see the time of the ICO yet no SMT. Plus buying in the ICO is in ETH....
I am not an instagram person but it is huge. If this could become a serious competitor to that, another winning app on the steem blockchain.

Plenty of social media sites have tried and failed to build social networks that reward people with cash and they all turn into massive junk spam fests of people trying to make a quick buck.
