Since I've been on Steemit, I keep seeing people say that you must just do good content if you want to succeed. Well, you know what... that is absolutely false in a way. 💁🏼♂️
You see, "Social Media" in fact is really just a "popularity contest" and you must find a way for people to follow you and keep following you. Yes, it's just like High School. 🤣
However, if you become popular and have some "chops" (a way of saying things); you can dominate any social media platform regardless how well your content is.
I plan to talk more about in the next few days with better details... but I'm going to leave you with this. Popularity and Content goes hand to hand regardless how good it is. 🤩

Great points man. It's something I try to remind myself of every day....You could write a Pulitzer and without eye balls reading it, it doesn't amount to anything.
And anything 'marketing' related seems to get crapped on in Steemit which I'll never understand.
This is a popularity contest and our job is to stick out from the crowd and engage people that do find our stuff / brand awesome

If you think about it in terms of upvote power, this is still true on Steemit. There's plenty of great content here that doesn't earn well because the do not have support from whales and dolphins. There's also some awful content that still gets support from whales and dolphins. Steemit will change this from being popular to being popular with people who hold a lot of steem. Also, being a whale or dolphin will make you more popular in many ways because of the weight of your upvote!
