STEEM Witness and Medium Blogger @charlieshrem Sued For $32 Million In Bitcoin

Notice how I said Medium blogger? I previously reported that @charlieshrem is evidently embarrassed to blog on STEEM despite being a witness here.

https://steemit.com/steem/@brianphobos/steem-witness-blogs-on-medium-instead-of-steem

I then asked him if he was still supportive of the STEEM community on Twitter.

What answer did I receive???? RADIO SILENCE!!!

Fast forward to today and I see on CoinDesk that the Winklevoss twins have sued Charlie saying he stole 5,000 BTC from them.

https://www.coindesk.com/winklevoss-brothers-sue-charlie-shrem-over-32-million-in-bitcoin/

"Either Shrem has been incredibly lucky and successful since leaving prison, or – more likely – he 'acquired' his six properties, two Maseratis, two powerboats and other holdings with the appreciated value of the 5,000 Bitcoin he stole ..."

Maybe of that bitty rich lifestyle came from STEEM witness earnings??? @ned said something to the effect that we needed movers and shakers over here on the STEEM blockchain when him and his other whale friend compadres voted @charlieshrem way up the Witness list. Hell I even voted for @charlieshrem.

I have always been pretty neutral on @charlieshrem and my interpretation of why he went to prison but maybe he is a bad actor.

I sold my house in Arizona so I can go deeper in the crypto markets. Just straight up eating dirt in some respects to save money and go a lot bigger this time around. Looks like some people might just steal their way to being Bitty Rich.

If STEEM Witness voting wasn't such an egregious joke and it made sense for me to run a Witness node would you vote for me or a guy like @charlieshrem ?

@brianphobos its people like you that should be on the witness list, if you were to set up a witness, you'd definitely have my vote.

Thank you for the support!

Heard he likes to Dash and run

Hahahha, looks like it.

Nice going Phobos. Glad to hear you are Bullish on Steem and Crypto.
I'll have to look at Whaleshares

I here you @brianphobos, it is sad he would not even acknowledge you, but certainly not surprising...........

Yeah, I wasn't surprised that he didn't respond either. Sometimes it is easiest to just ignore the questioning and go on with your day. Political candidates are good at using that technique.

Shrem is a joke. I never understood why he got so much attention when he was here. He literally did nothing at all except post his prison story, start up a witness node, and rake in the STEEM.

Then he left.

And still, he was near the top of the witness list for a very long time - long after he had stopped interacting. Nothing but false hope and empty promises. What does that remind you of?

It is like anything. Success proceeds itself and however he initially got funding for BitInstant and started making big moves is hard to say but he became a fixture in the crypto world for better or for worse so I think guys like @ned felt that most people in the crypto world sympathized with @charlieshrem in general and thought he could bring a lot of capital here for development....etc.

It ended up not happening and it just ended up being another great money maker for Charlie.

Unfortunately that is 95% of the crypto market. All talk and very little action a lot of times.

Obviously a lot of us could lease / make payments on cool cars and sell the dream and not produce anything.

It has been extremely weird the people who have had success on this blockchain in general. Let's not forget Makeup girl. She made more in a couple post than 99.9% of the people on here made in two years plus.

Yeah, unfortunately, I think the people making the most money (“publicly,” at least) and how they’re doing it is what keeps most “normies” from caring at all about cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. They look into the space, see convicts (Shrem), scammers (Bitconnect), and absolute douchebags (Ver), and then say, “Nope.” And then they’re likely lost forever.

The image of crypto/blockchains is not at all appealing to the masses...and the wounds we have are mostly self-inflicted. Sure, a lot of people will make money, but if the same crowd continues to “lead” the entire space, it’s never going to find a home with the average joe...which is what currencies actually require. So it will remain a niche market and you will eventually run out of greater fools to buy the tokens.

We live it everyday but most people who see Ver or Charlie Lee or Charlie Shrem on TV they don't know anything about their past or what has been said on Twitter or a live stream. This set of newbies didn't know anything about what Mt. Gox was and the next set of people won't know what BitConnect was.

Their will be another big rush and with Fidelity opening up their trading desk and Circle being purchased bigger and bigger money is going to keep flowing in.

Even if crypto just continues to be this huge hype bubbles I'm sticking in to catch the waves even if it never fully becomes part of our society as digital cash like we have all hoped for several years.

I was curious myself about this whole deal.

Thanks for asking the right questions my man.

I guess the next test is that if he loses the houses, the cars, the boats..... will his wife stick with him?

Perhaps it will be an interesting case study on gold / bit diggers? She is innocent until proven guilty so we will see what happens. She stuck by him while he was in prison but maybe she knew his crypto wallets were so heavy he was walking with a limp!

Walking with a limp because his balls are made of gutsy iron! The nerve of that guy being rich because of deceit...

Sounds like it certainly could have been from deceit.

Buffff...nothing good with this guy, thought

Perhaps not. Things might be catching up to him now though. It is hard saying.

WTF do people use medium for......? GTFO @charlieshrem...

Hahhahah, That is hilarious. I always thought it was ridiculous when people would try to compare Medium to STEEM and act like it was a better platform. Some of it was interface related....etc. Maybe it was that they knew what they were going to make up front........ ZERO hahhahaha

Charlie is a busy guy he may have just not had time to get back to you yet. In fact I saw him yesterday at the WCC in Las Vegas speaking.

Well it is a question that is easier just not to answer in general. Most people on STEEM don't feel like he did much here and was able to get a lot of rewards from running a witness node back in 2016 and then did nothing and just left.

Oh yes I did not know about the history on that one. I would like to look into that one as it appears there is a bit more to this story.

I have a witness vote that I haven’t used yet, let me know when you are ready for it.
