In the graphic below I tried to visualize the difference in magnitude from 1 to a million, I'm not a mathematician so I don't really know the proper terms "orders of magnitude"? Maybe, we tend to believe that the progression to a million is linear, as in a 45 degree ramp, but it's really like a very steep curve.
