Presentation is one of a lot of things that decide where your career is going to go. Yes, that is true. In an interview, you are not only asked to come with your PowerPoint or word file presentation ready, but you are also asked to come being well- presentable. A lot of time is spent in preparing for the presentation that is required to be given in that interview or in that room full of corporate and business heads. Not only time but investment in energy and resources are also being committed before entering that room.
All of this is a necessity if one wants to learn or crack that job but what goes missing is the part where one also has to look presentable. Now, this may sound weird, but it is a well-known fact that a lot of well- deserved presentations get rejected only because the person giving them did not come well- presented. Well- presentation is a must not only for those interviews but also for the day to day life events because not only does this habit make you look confident, but it also helps you feel more confident. Here is a list of the various practices that one can follow to look well- presentable.
1. Carry yourself with confidence- The number one rule to look presentable is to feel presentable. Maybe one could not find the time to use those cheap grooming products or did not get the time to find those formal clothes. Well, worrying about it now is not going to be of any help. So the advice is. However, you look, carry yourself with confidence. Feel confident about what you have worn.
2. A cross to informal clothes- Say a big no to informal clothes like blue jeans and yellow t-shirts. It does not matter if you are going for an interview in a company where the environment is casual. If it is an interview or the first week of the company, it is advised to wear either formals or semi-formals—nothing else.
3. Be there before time- These big corporate giants who have made it to success have made it very clear that it is always preferred to be on or before time. Be it an interview or a business meeting or even the 100th day of the office; be there on or before time. Even a minute late can cost you your good reputation, and that is a risk one should not be willing to take.
4. Black and grey are the favourites- Formals are a must, as you read above. But the colour combination of the outfit also matters a ton. Wearing a yellow coloured blazer on a pink coloured top may or may not have you look vibrant, but it will definitely make the whole look casual. By that, the purpose of buying that blazer and the shirt in the first place will go defeated. Dark colours like black, grey and blue are always preferred over the other colours.
5. Go prepared- Does not matter if you did not have the time to prepare because the interviewer or the boss will, in most cases, not care. So, do not cost yourself that job or your salary only because you could not spare 5 minutes to prepare for that meeting. Go prepared, stay prepared, always. Not only does this help you maintain your reputation, but it also makes you feel confident and ready for the obstacle that has come in the way of your success.
6. The smell- Yes, that is right. Smelling right is a must these days. Sweaty upper lips or underarms or a bad smelling mouth will give you the worst image that you will ever be able to bear. Being a part of the grooming process, one is required to smell and feel good and fresh. Get yourself a cheap grooming kit or a cheap grooming product like the razor and go shaving. Shave those extra hairs and get that discounted health care product like a mouth freshener to keep the bad smell away not only from your body but from your mouth as well. Look clean, smell clean and of course, feel clean.
