Volcano reaction

Ammonium dichromate is sometimes known as "Vesuvian fire", because when pile of this salt is heated exothermic reaction ocurs, which looks like active volcano.

Products of this reaction are: chromium (III) oxide, nitrogen gas and water. So the only product which we can see is chromium (III) oxide which has dark green color.
