Cherry Blossoms and Orchid Blooming Weather

I travelled to the Waimea, Hawaii Cherry Blossom festival on February 1st to enjoy the celebration of the link between Hawaii and Japan, the Cherry Blossom trees and their beautiful Flower blooms. These trees were brought over from Japan around one hundred years ago. They are thriving in the high elevation, wet and cool climate of Waimea, which sits on the flanks of Maunakea, the tallest mountain in the world.

The festival was fun, with Cherry Blossom branches fir sale, which were heavy with flowers, hot food including meat and baked goods, famous Hawaii Kona Coffee to keep you warm and Dragon Dancers and Tiki Drums added you the mix.

Once I returned home I was busy cleaning up after the storm, but today I was greeted with another round of new Orchid blooms which appear to love our colder and wetter then usual February weather.

After enjoying these flowers, I decided that our cooler, wetter weather may not be all bad after all! :)
