When people say Cherry blossom in Japan, they refer to Somei-Yoshino, pink-colored flower, which blooms at the end of March and are planted all over in Japan.
There are many other kinds of cherry trees.
i.e. Gyoiko which bloom end of April and the color of flower is green!!
