Chess960 or Fischer Random Chess
This variant of the chess game was developed by Bobby Fischer, the former American grandmaster and world champion, he presented it for the first time in the 90's. The number 960 refers to the 960 possible starting positions of the figures on the first row. The intention behind this variant is to let the player find new ways from the first move on, since memorizing the theory of 960 positions is impossible.
Nevertheless, certain similarities to the normal chess, especially in the opening, can be seen. Developing figures, security of the king and occupying center fields are the most important ones. Dennoch sind gewisse Ähnlichkeiten zum normalen Schach, besonders in der Eröffnung, zu sehen. Entwickeln von Figuren, Sicherheit des Königs und besetzen von Zentrumsfeldern sind die wichtigsten davon.
