The four-day festival of Chhath Puja has started with Nahay Khay and Kharna. Let us tell you that on October 28, Chhath Puja was celebrated. Whereas Kharna Puja of Chhath festival is on 29 October i.e. today. After this, the evening arghya will be given tomorrow i.e. on 30 October. On the last day of Chhath Puja i.e. on 31st October, Arghya will be offered to the rising sun in the morning. Devotees are ready to celebrate this festival with great pomp. Chhath Puja, also known as Surya Shashthi, Chhath, Chhath, Chhath Parva, Dal Puja, Pratihara and Dala Chhath, is dedicated to Lord Surya. In the Vedas, the Sun God is considered the god of energy and life force. Women observe a strict fast during Chhath and pray to Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya for the well being, prosperity and progress of their family and children. They also offer Arghya to Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya. This festival is unique to Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh in India and Nepal.
Chhath Puja 2022 Date |Chhath Puja is celebrated six days after Diwali or on the sixth day of the month of Kartik. Devotees prepare only sattvik food (without onion or garlic) with utmost cleanliness a day after Diwali and start preparing for Chhath by eating only after taking bath. This year Chhath Puja will be held on 30 October, Sunday and 31 October, Monday. Which has started from Nahay Khay on 28 October. After this, on October 29, today is Kharna Chhath Puja. People observe Chhath, they follow strict customs and rules. According to the Drik Panchang, sunrise on Chhath Puja will be at 06:43 in the morning and sunset at 06:03 in the evening. Shashthi Tithi will start from 05:49 am on 30th October and will end on 31st October at 03:27 am.
There are many mythological stories associated with the origin of Chhath Puja, and some are also mentioned in the Rigveda texts. According to Hindu mythology, Draupadi and Pandavas fasted for Chhath Puja to regain their kingdom and resolve their issues. According to another belief, Karna, who was the son of Lord Surya and Kunti, also used to perform Chhath Puja. It is said that he used to worship the Sun God by standing in water for hours during the Mahabharata period.
During Chhath Puja, devotees offer Arghya and pray to Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya to get their blessings. Along with this, they offer Arghya to the Sun God for the prosperity and welfare of their children and family members. While worshiping Lord Surya, devotees also chant the mantras of Rigveda. It is also said that the sages of the Vedic age used to perform Chhath Puja by exposing themselves to direct sunlight to get energy from the rays of the sun.
