To the common Major League Baseball fan, there's not a lot that separates the Chicago Cubs home digs of Wrigley Field this season from what we've seen in the past. But that's just on the surface.
One of the sports world's most iconic homes for one of baseball's most-popular teams underwent a major rebrand during the winter. The additions include elite luxury club suits, a Maker's Mark barrel room behind the road team's dugout and a Catalina Club in the upper level.
Here's a time-lapsed video of the renovations that will simply blow your mind.
As you can see, about 70 percent of Wrigley Field itself was torn apart and rebuilt again. Yeah, human ingenuity is defined in its clearest form here — even if that includes simply adding more places for those to partake in adult beverages.
What's so amazing about these renovations is that Wrigley Field still has the same look and feel to it as when the iconic venue first hosted a baseball game back in 1914. The ability to modernize while still capturing the true essence of a historical landmark is an architect's dream come true. Those responsible for the rebrand at Wrigley did this to a T.
It's somewhat similar to what we saw those tasked with modernizing the NFL's Soldier Field — home of the Chicago Bears — do several years ago.
To them, we say this is a job well done.
