I tell all my friends and family to capture all the photos, pix, video clips. Because as we get older some tend to forget the little moments of time when it all began or all had ended.
As a child I was an only child for 8 years, before that it was just my mom Betty and I. My father JohnnyAngel Salazar had gone on a fishing trip with his Compadre name unknown in the year of 1976 they had asked my Gpa Fred to accompany them. but he had said to my dad and friend that they had drank up all the beer so he decided not to go . My father had explained to his Dad that they would stop by the liqour store to reup on some cold ones. My Gpa Fred still refused the invitation to go along the fishing trip, they were headed towrds Calixaco,California. My Gpa Fred also mentioned that they were all ready wasted> drunk off drank.Only God knows why my Gpa Fred sensed the demise of the future that lay waiting ahead. So this was a day in the month of March, spring time chilling and co relaxing the two buddies decide to make way to Sulton Sea, I do beleive.
But little did the two know that there was danger on the highway. Nicely buzzed on beer and not wearing seat belts remember this was 1976 when seat belts were not enforced like todays standards and municipal codes, really strict1. Cruising down to the fishing hole did they make it to the liqour store for those nice cold beers? I always wonder still to this day. Something went wrong the two gentlemen found them selves in a fatal car accident which ejected my father through the windshield , i assume he had become unconscious as soon as his head made contact with the glass windshield .My Gma my moms mom used to tell me that my dad died because he didn't know how to swim...I don't think she liked him very well!!! Being that said not knowing how to swim she was referring to the launch of the ejection into the California Aqua ducts. My dad was taken by the currant of the duct swept him all the way to the very end I'm guessing where themetal screen filter lies.
I was told by my Tia Rose, that when they had to go identify the body he didn't even look like her brother, He was so swollen due to the impact and being water loggged .
So imagine this happened in the month of March and I was born in the month of June.
I was born fatherless not even knowing his name untill I was about 8 years old,I was a very neieve and nobody in my household ever spoke or said his name not even in reference ,no mention of a individual named daddy that concerned me or my life. Untill one day my Gpa came home from work and my aunt Marylouise ran screaming daddy your home and it made me think that he too was my daddy. But no uhuh never and a day this is my daddy not yours!!!! Mind you my aunt was and is only 2 years older than me and we grew up as if we were brother and sister. But I knew she was my moms lil sister and she was my aunt I guess I wasn't that neive to knpw the difference in that scenerio.
When I would attend grammer school my name was Roberrt Fraijo Ambriz, which was my Gma's maiden name plus my my moms maiden name, It was all documented in my religous paper work so my mom neverr used my birth certificate for identity. I was Robert F. Ambriz all the way till I was 18 years old when I started to work for the city of Irwindale summer youth work program, there I had to fill out a w2 form in order to do my taxes and get my refund! The IRS wrote me a letter stating that there is no such person recorded as Robert F. Ambriz, nobody was born with that name it did'nt match my socal security number. I was dazed and confused with the whole situation.I didn't know who I was and getting back to schooltime I hated when fathers day would come around because we all had to make neck tie cards for our dads and when the teacher would come to me to ask what my dads name was I came up with the word deceased at rhe age of 6. And being latino the teacher automatically thought it was a spanish name Deceese when in fact it meant dead. iI was trained at a early age about the word deceased but not knowing the true difinition .Boy I wonder if the teachers ever had a clue. Getting back to my taxes , in order to receive my refund I had ro become Robert A. Salazar or go in front of a judge and pay a fee to have my name amended . So here I am Mr. Robert A. Salazar, boy was my Gma livid. it's getting good so i'll close for now stay tuned for the conclusion of my dysfunctional life.2017-02-27 15.12.27.png20170302_224624_Calle De Paseo.jpg20160413_184903.jpg20160413_185234.jpg300x300 (7).jpgIMG_20140802_130318.jpg
