Investigation - Protection of Children Outside the United Kingdom - Public Hearing - Day 2

in child-trafficking •  6 years ago

Apologies for missing day 1 of this part of the inquiry, I was attending a job interview and forgot to save the footage.

This is a 5-day hearing, investigating the protection, or lack of protection, given to children all across the world. As many will know, children are trafficked all across the globe and in certain countries it has even become a tourist attraction. The first person to be interviwed today works for an organisation called APLE(Action Pour Les Enfants) and will be talking about the exploitation of children in Cambodia.

Many of the children who become victims of abuse are living or working on the streets. From what I have heard so far, it appears a large portion of abusers are foreign nationals who have travelled to Cambodia in order to exploit vulnerable children. As I missed yesterday's hearing and am in the process of catching up with this mornings footage, I am unable to give you much more info than this. Today, I will be listening to as much as possible and be able to give a better overview in tomorrows post. To make up for the lack of info in this post I will site some stats that will help put some perspective to this part of the inquiry.
