There has long been a high demand for high-quality childcare in Australia. There are 13,138 childcare services operating in Australia in the past few years and all of these professional roles are waiting to be filled, and not just by anyone. Formal child care means that carers are formally trained in child care study brisbane, child care courses , have attended and have a certificate in child care. Formal childcare is not the same as babysitting and this infographic by Academia Institute lists the details of what makes formal childcare the choice to make as opposed to other kinds of childcare.

Perhaps one of the main points that can be made regarding the importance of formal childcare is the fact that over an average of 24 hours per week is spent in childcare. And in formal childcare, those 24 hours are spent in an all around healthy and intellectually stimulating environment where children develop along with other kids their age.

But choosing a good daycare can be a difficult task. Parents who choose to enroll their child in a formal daycare expect to spend at least $10.50 per hour, a figure which has seen an increase from 17% to 28% for children ages 0-11 who attend formal childcare. The cost is often justified, especially for daycare centers that specialize in preparing children for the next stages of education in the next two or three years. And costs come with weighty benefits:

  1. Play is structured for learning - In formal daycare, learning is structured and daily routines are established to make the learning environment a schedule that mimics daily life. This helps in forming a balanced mental, emotional, social and psychological environment for the child.

  2. Proper socialization - learning along with other children in a an educationally guided manner makes for an ideal environment for your child to develop their social skills in.

  3. An educational community approved structure - Parents have the assurance that time spent in daycare is based on a learning framework pre-approved by Australia to help in cognitive skills, social and emotional skills development as well as fine and gross motor skills.
