No Gadget Childhood

Before the era of electronics devices, handheld gadgets, and the like has surfaced,we were once a little child who would tug on mom and dad to give us the toys we wanted.

If you think of late 80’s to early 90’s, Nintendo Family Computer was a fad. However, never in our meager home. My parents will consider our toy request depending on how it will help us educationally or help us interact with other children. Not pushing buttons while sticking our eyes in the television.

We had Monopoly, Scrabble, Word Factory, Snakes and Ladders, Domino, “Sungka”, to name a few.

Last December when we had a short vacation in the Philippines, my brother brought my niece to a toy store to get a Monopoly Board Game so she can practice adding and subtracting money, and, to also socialize with her friends without being electronically hooked.

If, in God’s will, we will be gifted with children, we plan to limit their exposure to gadgets and share with how we had spent our childhood.

This is great! Two thumbs up for this. We should really get back and let our children experience what we had before that is more fun.

Thanks po! I guess one or two boeardgames at home will help us free the kids from gadgets even for a little time
