Jesus and the children of Abraham: The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God. John 8:47

The Gospel of John relates that Jesus went up to Jerusalem for the Feast of Tabernacles, and while he remained in the holy city he gave many spiritual teachings about the Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections, that convinced many that he was the promised messiah.
And in one of these teachings, Jesus spoke about the children of Abraham according to the spirit and the children of Abraham according to the flesh.
According to Christian doctrine, the flesh and the spirit are opposite perceptions of the mind, which constantly fight against each other; one is inclined towards the pleasures of the body and the search for material wealth, the other instead, towards the truths of the spirit such as wisdom and eternal life.
For Jesus, the true children of Abraham are the heirs of the new promises of the Kingdom, the blessed, those called to the spiritual gift of eternal life (contemplative activity) by faith and the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion), that is why Jesus said about the heirs of this new spiritual kingdom: "If you hold to my teaching, your are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" John 8:31-32.
On the other hand, the children of Abraham according to the flesh are for Jesus all the followers of the law of Moses who make of it a game of masks and appearances. In the path taught by Christ, there are no intermediate terms, there are no grays; in the Kingdom of God, things are black or white.
That is why when the Pharisees rebuked Jesus and accused him of being a heretic, Jesus had a very clear answer about the true and false children of Abraham: "Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God" John 8:47.
