The Eyes of a Child // The World According to Hikaru

in children •  7 years ago

Sitting here eating breakfast with my kids. My oldest—Hikaru—is constantly talking. It's always a strange combination of things he hears from cartoons, books, and other people.

My wife came over to eat with us and this is what he told her very odd things. Well, he always does. But his weird talking make me laugh this morning. Here is a sample:

Mama, you're a girl. You're not a woman. Mamas are always girls because if you were a woman you wouldn't be my mama because women are old and mamas aren't old yet and you are my mama so you aren't old.

But I don't want to become old because I am still a little boy. When you become old you have to die but I'm still a little boy and I don't want to die yet. When I become old my teeth will be gone and then I have to swallow everything.

But it's ok, mama, you are still a girl so you won't be old and die yet.

And there we go. The wisdom of Hikaru!

Love that conversation and I think it is awesome that you are journaling what he says everyday. Priceless!
