It's a pleasure to watch our children learn about the world around them. Things are moving at a very fast pace in today's world and we as parents want that our children also keep up to the pace, but we cannot make them learn by pushing things on them. Learning for them is a gradual process and it also depends on what environment we give them to boost their learning abilities..
It is much easier to learn things at a younger age and also retain it for the lifetime. What experiences children go through at young age gets very strongly registered in their memories, so it can be good things and it can be bad also. That is the reason why childhood traumas go a long way in one's life.
Young minds are very curious to keep learning and hence whenever they encounter new things, strange things their curiosity arises to know more about it. You will end up with 100s of questions from them, and at times you may just not be able to answer them also, cause they have some strange questions.
When my son was small and his questions would start I would feel like running away...hahaha...The Why? would never stop.
Books are one great way of learning, but experiential learning is the best for children.
Here are some tips of how you can assist your children build up their learning abilities:
You can support your children by joining hands with them, by letting them know in subtle ways that you are always there with them to guide them and handhold them. Give your children more exposure to explore the world rather than confining them to Internet education. Make learning a fun experience for your children.

I agree with you that experience is one that can be used for learning for children, because experience is a way of learning that can be done by all ages, especially children. To support children's growth, experience can be one of the ways they shape their lives. How to learn like this can be done by children from the simplest things such as interactive, exploring, creating, finding, linking and interacting with the surrounding environment. Form of learning through experience is unstructured learning, no rules or deadlines, and take a little guidance . adults.
Children are given the opportunity to learn naturally, according to their interests. Unstructured learning process like this has more variety of activities to try. Some process can be done through activities such as children playing outdoors, role playing or imaginative, expressions trance through art, music, and dance, and the exploration of nature and the environment around the child, for Dare to Gross is Good. It is so much fun to have kids help out in the kitchen. Whatever job you give them they are so excited to be part of the production. When you show them how to do something new, they immediately what to practice and show you their skills!

We all feel the urge to run away when our kids start with the questions, and we grown to hate the question words why how etc

Presently most children learn with songs, games and fun stuff. If you want them to learn turn it into any of these three ( songs, games or fun stuff). That is why Mickey Mouse club house, Barney, Swambuckle etc sells more. Because these and more has one or all of this 3 I mentioned

I gave a workshop on Growth Mindset and how to nurture it in kids in my son's school last Saturday and it covered almost all the points you mentioned above. It's a Good post. I agree with that thing about "helping hand" because kids are not ready to do some hard things on their own, they need our help. See, we make mistakes when they do something wrong, we want to tell to our kids "all they do wrong", but you have to do it in this way, you know, tell them what they do good and tell them in the best way, they don't want or need to be forced them or being disciplined in a hardly way because they don't know everything, they need you to show them what's right and teach them what's wrong.

My five-year-old has been at question stage for some time now. I make a point to always answer as best I can, even if the answers are over his head. And if/when they're over mine, I let him know that I don't know, but we can try to find out. I think in some respects, even more than learning the actual information, it's also good to show him that it's okay to not know some things. Because that's the point of learning - to fill in the empty spaces.
