Truthfinder Sex Offender Lookup and Registry

  • This company offers a bunch of other services and apps, too, for a fee, such as SafeDating and Reverse Phone Number Lookup, as well as public records lookup, people search and dark web scan. None are free, nor does the initial report give you a lot of information of value.
  • The website lookup is address-specific and told me how many potential tenants there are, including a list of some (but my name was absent), their age, aliases, current and past city/state. It does NOT tell you which, if any, are sex offenders in this list. If you click on a person, it starts loading a report, with teaser questions at each stage to increase your interest (I found the process annoying). It takes several prompts and many more minutes before it asks for your name and email address. Finally, after several more minutes, it tells you the cost: $27.78 for 1 month or $46.04 for 2 months. Access is then unlimited. After declining that offer, it THEN offered me the $1 trial for 5 days, after which the price would be $29.89/mo! They claim this is because of the cost of collecting that data, although it's at least partially from free governmental sources, and THAT data is what you're looking for and should not have to pay for.
  • The website sex offender registry search is name-specific and asks a few questions to help narrow down the list, then it starts loading. It then proceeds in the same way as the lookup, meaning that it actually takes longer.
    App: Android
  • Price: The app itself is also free and you can get useful info on predators, with the option of signing up for more detailed reports.
  • Size: 19M
  • Ratings: 4.4
  • Last app update: 4/18/2019
  • Provided by: Truthfinder
  • Search options: With the app, you can search by person, phone, email or location. There is also an interactive map that you can access at the first menu, or after you’ve conducted a search, unknown radius, nationwide, cannot drag or click to re-orient.
  • Results: Searches show a long report, with the option to see the map. The map shows pins that can be clicked on.
  • Details given:
    • The search report brings up some info about the target email, phone, address or location, and a partial list of current (and past) residents (some data was incorrect/incomplete) but you'd have to pay to get anything useful about them. After that, it lists people nearby (blank), and then crime statistics (city, state and national) back to 1997, sex offenders, more info about the property, census info, demographics and sometimes it shows top places for the area (tourism info). The list of registered perps in the area shows a tiny photo, name, 1 sexual charge, and address, and a button “view details”. The details that appear provides more data about the person (in addition to the previous info: offender ID, source state, age, DOB, height, weight, race, hair, eyes, gender and a map specific to the perp’s address that you can open) and includes an option to view person or property report. That brings up search with 1 or more people to click on, and the report shown gives the astrological sign, education, relatives and associates (clickable), share report, perp’s phone numbers and locations, carrier location, line type, connected (y/n), each of which you can click on to get a report, email addresses showing them and if they’re disposable (anonymous) and locations, with a map, date from-to, address, nearby sex offenders and you can click “view location report,” which starts a new search. Some sections will encourage you to buy a report. Sometimes reports will come up that are mostly useless and require payment.
    • The interactive map has checkboxes for perps (red pins) and neighbors (blue pins), but it hasn't shown any neighbors. Clicking a pin shows you a tiny photo, name, address, 1 charge and “search for” perp button, which ends up giving you what you got above in the last report.
  • Other features: suggested report (related to previous searches), your stats (people, phone, email and location report views with a button for each to do that type of search), and all reports. Although an account isn’t required, you can make one, and contact customer support within the app or by phone.
  • Paid features: other than reports, there is an unlimited monitoring feature for any person, phone, email or location, as well as sex offender watch that lets you know about new and existing perps. You can also buy report , phone and email credits. There is also mention of “Guardian”, in the personal report option, which can help you with identity theft, online privacy and protection from hackers.
  • Thoughts: The website features are full of annoying marketing tricks to waste your time (10-15 minutes) without giving anything useful unless you pay. Given that credit/background check services usually charge $25/report (or more), the website is certainly cheaper if you're looking for more info about than one person, and it supposedly provides a great deal of info about the person, including social media, criminal, relatives, associates, former addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and government reports. One further note is that reports from credit/background checks can take up to a couple of days, but Truthfinder said the full report was ready, implying no delays. The app, on the other hand, provides useful information to identify sexual predators around you. For me, what the company claims to provide is way more than what I'm looking for, especially since what I want I can get free from some of the listed resources. The website has nothing free, but the app is useful although the photos are uselessly small on a mobile phone. If you need to get a lot of information about someone, and don’t mind paying, the apps and website might be a good choice for you but, if you are just looking for a simple way to know about perps, this is definitely not a good choice. Data on perps is publicly available, so you shouldn’t have to pay for criminal records.

Sort Order:

I used a company called Rubber Giant for some isolation mounts meant for machinery but intended for my motorbike. First order arrived a day ahead of schedule but I'd ordered the wrong things. Ordered again (all via ebay) and realised I'd still orederd the wrong ones so contacted them https://peoplesmart.pissedconsumer.com/review.html via the ebay app and they cancelled the order straight away. A lot of companies would think tough luck and ignore the message as its a binding sale. This was late on a Monday afternoon. The new items arrived Tuesday morning, lightening fast. Highly recommended company.
