Celebrating Children's Month | An Act of Volunteerism

Kids are treasure in this world. Their smile, giggles , hugs and those wondering questions they love to utter. Who would not love kids , right? With regards to this , we all love to see healthy kids as well . No malnutrition , no illness just happy kids playing around. Kids are said to be the hope of the nation, so we better take care of them , nourish them and love them...

My mom has been a volunteer worker for many years , from being a day care teacher before , she also became a barangay nutrition scholar (BNS) whose reaponsiblity is to check children all over the village , their monthly weight , provide free vitamins for them , remind parents about their vaccination , and of there are further medical needs , she's also the one to assist the child's family for all the necessary things needed. Now mom is working as part of MSWDO ( Municipal Social Welfare Development Office ) at the same time still working as BNS . Still she cares for kids in each of the village in the municipalities . In their office , she also assist senior citizens concerns and single parents.

Last time , the office of MSWD conducted the national Children's month at a small rural barangay / village , in Burbuli , in Oriental Mindoro Philippines. The barangay was chosen to where the event will be held because it was recorded as the most remote and both kids and parents need proper education and lecture about proper nutrition and the head of the village requested for it.

The MSWDO was supported by a Caring Heart Foundation - is a Non-Profit Organization, founded in 1997 by Bernard Bush. Their vision is to restore financial stability and hope to families and children who have found themselves upon hard times. They want to always strive to eradicate hunger and poverty, through awareness and most of all Caring. . They sponsored all the gifts for the kids and the food as well. The have been very supportive of the volunteer works in all parts of the country. They are based in Metro Manila , the capital of the Philippines.Some of their representatives were present during the event

As part of the program , my mom, as representative of MSWDO , had given a talk to the parents and kids about proper nutrition and how to take good care of the children's health. She also gave thanks to the foundation and all who supported them for the event . She also said her thanks to all the attendees.The kids were also given school supplies and some other needs for their studies . There are also toys given as part of their prizes for different games prepared by both the foundation and MSWDO.

Also present in the event were the policemen , they are the ones who made sure all are safe and it's a peaceful event , plus they are the ones who were assigned on the feeding program. Both kids and parents were fed with sopas and bread .

The event ended well, everyone was so thankful and kids were so happy. It's really the volunteerism and love and care that shows up on this day. Hope many more will be as kind as these people. But we have to always remember that kids are indeed gifts from UP ABOVE and that we have to treat them the way they should be , because they'll be the one to represent our future generation.
