I was living in Fujian province last year in a town called "Longyan" which means, "Dragon Rock" 龙/龍 means "Dragon" and 岩 means "rock". Longyan is a city of about 500,000, SMALL by Chinese standards. In this city I only knew of a few other non-Chinese. For these students to meet and talk with an American, myself, was definitely the first time for them. I hope that I gave them some confidence in English and chance to talk with someone from another country, one which they know a lot about but have never had any real interaction with or the people.
