The Chinese city of Zhengzhou is now imposing a blockade near Foxconn's main iPhone manufacturing facilities, which could affect Apple's supply chain, says Bloomberg.
Some areas in the Zhengzhou Airport's economic zone were immediately quarantined and people in the area had to stay in their homes and not be allowed to leave. The Airport Economy Zone is home to Foxconn's largest "iPhone" plant and the lock comes after employees have undergone mandatory testing at Covid.
China has implemented locks to prevent the spread of coronavirus, and such efforts could affect Apple's plant. At the moment, there doesn't seem to be a delay on the iPhone like the iPad, but Apple is struggling with the shortcomings of the MacBook Pro. Apple suppliers Pegatron and Quanta have also recently stopped production in eastern China due to a ban on Covid.
In March, Foxconn was forced to suspend production in Shenzhen for several days after the city was completely locked out, preventing residents from leaving their homes. The closure took only a few days before Foxconn was able to resume production, with factory workers working to arrange the foam.
