The last Chinese emperor was Pu Yi whom adbicated in 1912, since then the country moved toward an authoritarian system with the Chinese Communist Party driving reforms which brought China to become the 2nd biggest economic power in the World.
The party has set a limit of five-year terms for Presidents, a system which provided reasonable stability. This is now changing.

This limit is likely going to be abolished, allowing current president XI jinping to remain in power indefinetely.
Xi has already demonstrated that he is strong, capable of significant military capabilities and reduced corruption. With him, China will probably see a long set of important reforms to the public eyes.
From the USA perspective, Xi's consolidation of power will make China even a better competitor to the US globally. It is true that over the long run, authoritarian leader have advantages over the regularly changing characters in democracies. As they gather experience and can develop strategic plans that they will execute themselves. In this case I think authoritarian systems are better than democracies.
- What do you think?
- Prefer democracies?
- I love liberty, I have never lived in China but I doubt there is much liberty there.
Miss you Ron Paul, please come back for the 2020s USA election
