Rapidly developing China is a real paradise for architects and designers: the public is happy with every new product, and the growing development gives room for creativity and new ideas.
So the designers of the WUtopia Lab company proposed to decorate a bookstore in Suzhou in a rather unusual way. Buyers are accustomed to seeing bookstores as a quiet place with austere shelving full of literary works, and in the reading room nothing distracts from the main activity. But this bookstore has something to surprise: its ceiling is decorated with a cascade of mesh aluminum plates in all colors of the rainbow.
"What-what rainbows?" - you ask? Xanadu or Shangdu is the name of a historical and important place for the Chinese. This was the name of the city that was founded by the grandson of Khingis Khan Kublai, giving rise to the new Chinese empire of Yuan. Travelers told that in the middle of the new capital there was a luxurious colored tent Ruinous, delighting and awe all who saw it. I wonder if the same effect has been achieved with the new bookstore design?
