Sorry for delay in getting back to you. I appreciate your response. It is indeed a sad world that we live in when governments attack their own people through fear of losing control. As you rightly point out, addressing actual crime would be much more productive, but I guess persecuting your own people is the easier option. Of course, the Chinese government are not alone in that respect

I understand how comments get lost in the shuffle. The Chinese government certainly is not alone. The U.S. has a reported 25% of the world prison population, yet only 5% of the world population. Though, I believe that prison is a necessary evil, I don't believe any government has really gotten it right, though Norway may be the closest. Perhaps all governments could take a lesson from Norway.
