I came across this little gem of a small restaurant yesterday and was fairly impressed by it.
At the entrance you'll find that there are no printed menus, no waitresses taking orders and possibly no way to make cash or card payments, one is expected to scan a QR code and pay using their preferred mobile payment system using the terminal. This place is of course not the first to do this; McDonald's has been implementing such terminals for a while.
If one wishes to rent a powerpack because their phone's battery is dying, that can also be arranged. Scan a QR code, make a deposit via WePay or AliPay and you're good to go. I will no doubt write an article about China's sharing economy one day, but for now we will continue discussing this place.
You've got the free water, cutesy decor going on; it's that kind of establishment, in a suburb that has long been influenced by the presence of Japanese and Korean expats.
The place had a few customers, but there were also delivery drivers constantly popping in and out as well.
As for the food itself, it was simple yet satisfying; also not quite as greasy as a more authentic and traditional Korean style stone pot rice. The bonito flakes and seaweed added extra flavour without overpowering the lighter flavours of the salmon.
It's safe to say I finished it and left feeling happy with my little meal.
