.....continuing my last post
So what did I do this 14th Feb ? The answer is - something more exciting than shopping or treating myself a lavish meal. Yes, I was home after two long long long years for Chinese New Year 2018. Didn't take me too long to involve myself in it's preparations.
Now this is very interesting - The Chinese Custom. Chinese have no GODs , we believe and have been believing in our ancestors and our ancestor's ancestor.
So all the offerings we make during the New Year's eve is for the ancestors.
Offering = steam white rice , roast chicken (full) , roast pork , steam fish , alcohol , cigars.
The New Year's morning the family pray again to the ancestors followed by the New Year's offering ( include fruits , green tea, biscuits , chocolates , dry fruits , the Chinese snack named 'Tansen' by the Cantonese.
After the New Year's offering the elders of the house give the younger ones 'Hong Bao'- a red packet with money in it as a sign of good luck , wealth and fortune.
Aaaaaand the SPRING begins.
