Coffee consumption : an increasingly popular drink!

The coffee market in France in a few figures...
LEt's Take France as an example : The first figure we can give you is that 90% of people living in France drink coffee. In other words, this leaves little room for tea or chocolate. However, it is not because a person is a coffee lover that he cannot drink other drinks.
It should also be noted that France is the eighth most coffee-consuming country in the world. In fact, it is no less than 5.8 kilos of green coffee that each individual drinks on average each year. As you can see, this is quite impressive!
You should also know that no less than 6.6% of coffee is imported into France. In other words, it's a very flourishing market at the moment. And France is therefore a big customer for coffee-producing countries.
It is also important to know that of the 90% of French consumers, only 85% drink it on a daily basis. This can be in the morning before going to work, or simply during a break during the day. In addition, there are percentages, to follow up on the studies that have been carried out, to find out how the French consume their coffee:
- For 80% of them, it is a breakfast drink.
- 67% drink it during lunch.
- 26% drink it in the afternoon.
It should also be noted that the coffees that are most used at present are pods. In fact, it is enough to place the pod in the coffee machine, which is rather convenient for everyone.
Coffee consumption varies according to age and region as well
It is important to know that coffee consumption varies greatly depending on the age of the person. It is therefore possible to identify four different age groups:
- The 15/24 years old.
- The 25/44 years old.
- 45/64 years old.
- Over 65 years old.
Numerous studies have been carried out. The 45/64 year olds were found to be the age group that consumed the most coffee, followed closely by the 25/44 year olds, the 15/24 year olds and the over 65 year olds. As you can see, people who are active are the most likely to drink this type of beverage.
There are different coffees depending on the region where you live: from Irish Coffee, to Viennese coffee to espresso, you will certainly be amazed at the different varieties of coffee you can find.
A bitter coffee for sweet chocolates!
As you may have noticed when you drink coffee, you tend to want to eat something with it. In general, we think mainly of dark chocolate. Why is that? Simply because coffee allows you to appreciate the sweetness as well as the bitterness of chocolate.
You will probably say that this may be due to the caffeine in the coffee. Well, scientists have also conducted a survey with decaffeinated coffee. And they came up with the same answer: coffee with or without caffeine still makes people addicted to chocolate.
Indeed, chocolate helps to soften the bitterness of coffee, since coffee is particularly bitter. Note also that it is a tradition that we can find in many restaurants since a chocolate square is always brought with the coffee at the end of the meal.
