Paul in his second letter to Timothy, charged members of the church to flee the evil desires of youth and that they should pursue righteousness, faith love and peace along with the Lord.(2nd Timothy 2:22)
I believe that why some Christians fail to have a level of victory in this area is that we fail to acknowledge the major part of the verse which is not fleeing from sin, but fleeing to Christ.
We read the Bible we memorize verses, we pray daily, but there is always this feeling that something is missing.
And what I think is that this is what is missing in all of our battles, we are really good at acknowledging that this sin is wrong, but really bad at acknowledging that Christ is better.
We know the Ten Commandments, we know that we are meant to keep them, but we always end needing God grace in the end.
The real solution to this problem is enjoying the presence of God in times of prayer, worship, anytime we are in the community of believers. We should also not let guilt overcome us, that you are a sinner does not mean that you are damaged goods
The cross of Christ guarantees that every moment of confession and repentance is a cleansing moment (1 John 1:9) and that “there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). Last year’s or yesterdays or this morning’s sin need not linger or flagellate us with shame.
But our birthright as children of God is far more than the removal of condemnation. It is freedom (John 8:32.And we can only experience this freedom when we flee to Christ.
