It’s been an actual super productive day, yes I played a bit of tanks while dayle was getting ready to go to the shop but not much (promise!) I’ve got a stack done this morning, made killer breakfast, sorted out the charger for the car, did the heat shielding stuff under the desk for any drafts, sealed the windows, cleaned them, sorted the bed area again a little too.
i'm not sure where the breeze was coming from but we have cleaned and put down more reflective material, sealed the windows and we will see where we go from here, i ran out of material to do all the windows so i need to get more. if the only windows worked then we might be on to something -- it was good to get the windows cleaned regardless.
the cut out section underneath the desk really has come together better than i expected, i ripped out the drawers and the shelf (which was super easy) and i've now finished that job off completely, reflective sheetings to reflect cold out and keep the heat in so i'm really pumped about that, i might finish it with some kind of curtain across with a divider.
the parts for the charging of the car worked perfectly I even got this little plastic waterproof box if I wanted to have that outside and connect power and charger, I know that’s going to come in extra useful later on in van life mode so it’s a much needed buy, a bit like the emergency tow rope.
gotta check that the car battery is charged up as much as i can in the next few hours and see if i can turn her over, she's been sitting out there in the mud for ages. once the car turns over again i'll get it moved and then in the next two weeks it's the yearly maintanance on the car time again! wanna get rid of the smart this year.
i feel like a lot of these upgrades and jobs are a precursor to van life, i know i'll be doing a lot of tweaks in my free time and the more i learn and do now the easy the transition between static and moving will be easier -- i know the biggest expense will be car insurance and maintance of the van.
crucial part missing for headphones fix!
I got the helping hands all setup after what seems to be a whole cryptic arrangement of levers and ball heads and what not, only problem is amazon forgot to put the actual jack plug in and I ended up with a bloody brush instead, I can’t be bothered to moan about it thou so I’ve just left it and will order it in my next order.
I had such a nightmare trying to fix my old headphones before that I got super frustrated with it because I did not have the right tools for the job, now I have them but not the darn plug, frustrating! :) — be pumped to get these headphones back at full strength thou, I missing listening to my tunes through them and in-ear just don’t cut it!
i picked up a smallrig.com clamp and ball head to do some experimentation with lighting next, I wanna get rid of these oversized video lights I have so I can replace them with flat panel led or even small, I just need to get some 5600k daylight bulbs thou otherwise it’s not gonna look right on the record and I don’t wanna be messing with the processing each time, I just wanna be able to pull up the screen and record.
I had been looking at the lume cubes but I don’t think they will do the job for everyday video recording, maybe on the top of my tripod for the gopro but certainly not for sitting down video work and live streaming, they are micro usb powered and need a fresh charger every few hours, shame really, because they were the perfect size and weight for micro recording
overall a productive day
small tasks, little jobs, things that have been stacking up, projects that were open ended that needed a resolution and i'm glad that before the end of january i've got them going, next up for the rest of the day is some markdown tables and some image placement and then i'm done for a tuesday!
You were on one from the moment you popped up and got vertical i must say! Well done today you <3
