The God of a second chance

So many people out there who have tasted of the grace and mercies of God will agree with me that he is indeed a God of a second chance. Looking back from where he took us from and where he has brought us today speaks for itself. We were like unclean people covered in filthy rags of sin with death as the penalty for all our sins but he still looked at us with so much love even in that filthy estate and out of the gutters he picked us up and clothed us with the garment of his righteousness through the blood of Christ.

It is not because of something we did that he gave us a second chance at life to live in him and follow in the footsteps of Christ but it is all out of love. I hear testimonies of people who say they were rapists, killers, adulterers, fornicators, drug addicts, ritualists etc. People who did terrible things in their lives before they met the God of a second chance and in his infinite love and mercy forgave them all they had done and gave them a second chance to be better and live a new life in him. For his word says,

If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation for the old is gone and the new has come

Unlike the law that brought instant judgment on the sins of men and gave no room for repentance, God's love and mercy brought grace and opened the wide doors to repentance from sins and the opportunity to get a second chance. In the days of old, a man or woman caught in adultery was to be put to death and that was the law. There was no speculation about a second chance whatsoever no matter how they pleaded foe mercy or regretted their actions but Christ finally fulfilled the law and that era and has ushered us into a new era where we can now plead for mercy for every wrong thing we might have done with a sincere heart and God will forgive us.

This is a new era, the era of grace and the era of a second chance. But, are we going to continue in sin that grace may abound?
The apostle Paul says God forbid.
How can one who understands where Christ saved him/her from abuse this precious gift called grace? Beware for God is not mocked and is a just God. Grace is now available to all and whosoever that will acknowledge his sins and repent from his/her sinful life and accept Christ will be full partakers of this gift. There are so many people out there who have done some things that they regret and can't even forgive themselves and are wondering if God can ever forgive them.

Remember, Christ even interceded for the very people who beat him up, spat in his face and finally nailed him. All the way, he asked God to forgive them for they did not know what they were doing. I want to believe, even when you were doing whatever you did that you think is so unforgivable, this was his prayer for you. Stop being to hard on yourself and accept the second chance Christ has made available to you. For our God is a God of a second chance.
