Raise your eyes, believe and you will be saved!

It tells a biblical story in the book of Numbers 21: 4-9 that many years ago, Israel, the people of God were attacked by bites of poisonous snakes as it passed through the desert. The snakes of the desert according to the investigators are the most poisonous and the most aggressive, as for example the rattlesnakes or snakes cobra. The word of God tells us that when they left Egypt, the people of Israel were guided by the desert of Moses, man of God and even by God himself. Who shows his power over the natural to sustain his people while he arrives at the land where milk and honey flow or the so-called promised land. God himself placed the columns of fire to light them during the night and the clouds to cover them from the sun during the day, he also sent the manna to feed them. But the people of Israel, says the word of God, who got discouraged and began to murmur against God and against his servant Moses.

Following the murmuring, came a plague of poisonous snakes that bite the people of Israel, causing the death of many people. But one day, the people repented for their misbehavior, went to the man of God, Moses, and asked him to cry out to God to remove those snakes from the people. Moses praised God for the people.Says the scripture, that God answered Moses and ordered him to make a bronze serpent and then hang it on a pole, also told him to warn the people that anyone who was bitten by a snake, look at the bronze serpent and this I would be healed.

Moses was obedient and I made the bronze serpent and when a serpent commanded the people of Israel, they raised their eyes towards the serpent and the poison did not affect the person.

Today I wanted to bring this topic because, many years later, our God allowed his son to be lifted up on a tree so that everyone who raised his sight and believed in his sacrifice, was saved from certain death, which brings consequence the sin of man.

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:14-16

Literally this word tells us that those who wish to be freed from their sin (from the bite of the serpent) and receive salvation (free from the death of sin by the bite of the serpent in the desert passage) must turn their hearts to obedience of faith to the word of God in Christ.
