Following on from Temptation of Christ - part 1... To put Matt 4:1-11 into a clearer context, Satan has a specific reason for subjecting these temptations to Jesus. He wanted Jesus to throw himself down from the pinacle at the time of Satan's choosing which would have gone against the scripture stating, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.” Matt 4:7. This would have thwarted Christ's mission on earth to save our souls from eternal damnation, if he was to go against God's will he would no longer have been the sin free propitiation to God as penalty for the sins of the world.
Nevertheless Satan's plan failed as it is written in Matt 4:10-11 'Then Jesus said to him, “Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” 11 Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.' In the rather poetic manner in which Christ reveals his glory to us, the 'angels came and began to minister to him' immediately after the devil had left the area. It was because Christ had resisted the devil's temptations that the angels began to minister to him in accordance with God's will; as opposed to when Satan wanted the angels to 'Bear him up' Matt 4:6 which would have been the result of Christ doing Satan's will and not the will of our sovereign Father.
This is the take home message for me... Just as God allowed the devil to tempt Jesus in order for him to consciously choose whether to do the will of the Father or the will of the adversary; ultimately we human beings face the same choice. It's not an easy battle to partake in. Will we stumble? Of course, nevertheless the underlying theme is that we have the choice of whether to say 'Father, thy will be done' or 'Father, my will be done' in this life alone.
"As for the days of our life, in them are seventy years, Or if due to strength, eighty years' Psa 90:10 When this life is completed we will no longer have the above choice, this is why it's imperative that we continually seek his kingdom now to ensure we are amongst those Christ was referring to when he said, “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." Matt 25:34

Great teaching here! I was chatting with a friend of mine and the topic of the difference between our before Christ days and now. This is what came to me when asked what is the difference. Before I knew Jesus and decided to follow Him, when I woke each morning all I could think about was where I would get the next drink or drug or where was the party.
Now I love Jesus and I am born from above, when I wake each morning, my first thought is, Jesus! How much I love Him and my heart is set to please Him in every way. Out of our love for Him we can keep His commands!
Like you said, when the tempter comes we are not always successful, but many times we are!
God bless!
Daddy William

It's a joy to see the transformation living, I can tell from your manner of describing those times it's almost another human being. I'm similar, I used to be concerned with service to self as opposed to others. Colossians 2:2-3 comes to mind with the joy of the change ' My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.'
God bless you good sir.

As it goes in Ecc 3:15 "That which is has been already and that which will be has already been, for God seeks what has passed by." Thanks for the support 😊
