Go with me to the book, Acts 17:10-15
Main verse for reflection:Titus 2:8
Teach the truth so that your teaching cant be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us. (NLT)
Living and teaching the truth is the way to live above criticism. It also gives you power to turn people away from falsehood.
The opposition in Thessalonica did not stop Paul from preaching the gospel when they arrived at Berea. Their first port of call was the synagogue and they preached to an audience that is more open to the teaching of the gospel.
The result of hearing the gospel was that many Jews believed, as did many prominent women and men. (v12.) Even though the Thessalonians followed them again, they could not stop the power of the truth that was preached.
The truth opposed in one place is an opportunity for another place or persons to hear the truth. The truth preached must of course be in line with the teaching of Scripture. Whenever we teach and live out the truth it has the power to bring different people to Christ.
Remember today that both those who preach and those who listen have the responsibility of ensuring that the truth is preached and lived. Live and preach the truth no matter the evaluation and opposition of people, it sets people free.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to be a demonstration of the truth in my life and teaching.
