BIBLE TALK || PHILEMON 1 vs 21-22

Philemon 1:21-22~Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say. But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.

Having confidence in thy obedience -

That you would agree to all my communicated desires.

I wrote unto thee-

"I have kept in touch with you;" to mind, in this Epistle.

Knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say-

In every one of the regards which he had specified - in getting Onesimus, and in his kind treatment of him. He had solicited an awesome support from him, yet he realized that he would go even past what he had inquired.

Verse 22

But withal-

Or, in the meantime - Ἅμα HamaWhile you are conceding this support, do me additionally another by setting up a cabin for me.

Prepare me also a lodging -

Philemon had been familiar with indicate generosity to the holy people Philemon 1:5

Philemon 1:5
Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;

And not unrealistically Paul had before shared his neighborliness. The word rendered "lodging" ( ξενία xenia), implies, legitimately, visitor right, friendliness, diversion; and afterward, a place for a visitor; think about Acts 28:23.

Acts 28:23~And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

For I trust -

Paul had some expectation of being discharged - an occasion which most likely happened.

Through your prayers -

2 Corinthians 1:11.

Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

He anticipated that discharge in answer would the petitions of the individuals who love him, and the reason in which he was locked in; analyze the ref at Acts 12:5;

Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

I shall be given unto you~

I should be allowed to come back to you, act of goodwill some help - χαρισθήσομαι charisthēsomaiPaul had no uncertainty accordingly Philemon would so respect it, and he had no anxiety that his staying with him would be considered as a burden.
