When you study Church history, you'll quickly discover that the only reason we have the written Word of God today is because some realised it was worth giving their lives for - and so many did! They gave their lives gladly; they were exiled; excommunicated; they excitedly gave up everything, literally, they gave up everything because of their personal conviction: these disciples went through harrowing, crippling, personal experiences so that you and me could have this written text!

The same things they gave up for the defence of the gospel, seems to be the very same things Believers today spend many days fasting and praying to receive from God as though Love couldn't careless.

What did these men and women know about this text? What did they see? How did they become so passionate about a God they couldn't touch with their hands or see with their optical eyes? What drove this men and women to turn their backs on the glamour of this world for a very unpopular and unwanted way of life commonly known as Following Christ.

Paul, a man whose writings have totally altered my walk in the truth and granted me an understanding of the heart of the Father said in 1Cor 9:16:

For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
He writes, and I paraphrase, 'I have nothing to personally gain by preaching the Gospel, but I am constrained and propelled, yea woe awaits me, if I fail to declare the Gospel!' What a mindset!

Today is another day that the Lord made available for us, what is your motivation for being alive today? Do you seek God with your whole heart so that you can be another burning and shinning light in a grossly dark world!
