Tangibility of Grace Unto Gods’ Creations.
Gen 22:14 says “And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.” On our previous post, we stated that those last few words pointed toward the glorious work of Christ. It is important to keep in our minds what the focus of this teaching has been; God made a demand on Abraham, and it was God who met His own demand.
On the Cross of Calvary, there was another great exchange. The life of the beloved Son of God was sacrificed because God couldn’t accept our offering for sin. Jesus died on the Cross that we should live. He said, whosoever believes in me should NOT perish, but have eternal life. Eternal life does not only mean a life without end, but it also means the Life and therefore the nature of God imparted unto those who have believed. Let’s read one more scripture. Don’t miss this, in Rom 5:10 we are told
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Again, notice those subtle words, “we shall be saved by his life”! Dear God! What could this mean?
The underlying purpose of that great exchange was not only to pay the penalty for our sins, even though they are many and can be enumerated. The purpose was far greater. 2 Cor 5:21 says “For he hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” Meaning, God's purpose for the exchange was for us to become the righteousness of God! Hallelujah! More on the grace later.
