As the year, 2018 has just gone by (well for my part of the world), I'd like to reflect and share an highlight that I was part of which still has a profound effect in me even to this day. I serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Papua New Guinea. MAF is a not-for-profit group of Christian aviation professionals who provide air transport to places of greatest human need – places that are so remote and isolated, it is extremely difficult to reach them!
Early this year a severe earthquake occurred in a rural region in Papua New Guinea causing much suffering to people and destruction to environment. In the ensuring efforts, MAF mobilised its teams to conduct survey and recovery support flights. I am thankful to have been one of the first responders on a survey and relief flight and saw first-hand the devastation the earthquake had caused.

In the picture above, a child was hit in his left eye by falling debris and I am pictured here carrying him from the tarmac to a waiting ambulance. Of my experience that day, I wrote a piece which was published in many MAF news outlets to generate support and spread word of the disaster. The greatest impact I had that day and later throughout the disaster recovery phases was to see people in a difficult setting with very little being affected by a catastrophe so severe they had very little to no power to recover on their own. Nonetheless, people overwhelmingly appreciated the help that MAF and other organisations sprang in response to the devastation. The recovery work still continues to this day. Take a few minutes to read my story of my part in the disaster efforts here

Nice work @nawi. This world would really become a better place if we all truly learn the art of giving helping hands to those in need. @nawi you are truly a hero of this generation please keep up the good work.
