"Come Follow..." - Daily Word #85

in christian-trail •  6 years ago  (edited)

When someone uses the word "Come" it depicts an "Invitation"... for you to enter and to participate. Like for example;

  • Come to my birthday party...
  • Come dance with me...
  • Come in to my humble abode...
  • Come forth and speak...
  • Come join my organization...

In the Bible, #Jesus uses the word #Come a few times. Today, I wanted to turn our eyes to Matthew 4:19 (The Passion Translation)...

Jesus called out to them and said, “Come and follow me, and I will Transform you into men who catch people for God.”

This happened in the most remote part of the nation in a town called Galilee, which the people there were less refined and cultured. Jesus always reaches out to the most insignificant bunch of people to be His History-makers! After all, He often chooses the foolish of this world, to confound the wise!

Jesus specifically called out Two Pairs of Brothers...

Peter and Andrew, James and John had been disciples of John, and were submitted to the discipline of repentance (@ Joys of faith, suffering for Christ). Jesus never despises the poor or the poor in spirit.

The brothers were also unlearned men, Jesus often chooses the simplest of people so that the Gifts of Grace may be Multiplied and that God be Glorified.

They were also marketplace people (in business), who had been brought up working / toiling hard. As a Fisherman, it is more laborious and patient where they must 'watch and wait', till the results can be attained.

Fishermen like Good Soldiers of Jesus, have to be ready to bear hardships, hazards, and yet able to be faithful doing life together.

And amazingly, God often uses our Strengths and Adds-On a NEW SPIN to it! They were still Fishers, but instead of the Old Work, there received a New Call... to FISH FOR MEN!

Like David from a shepherd boy, to a Shepherd of God's People

This Transformation can only happen when Jesus CALLS US Out!

What areas is Jesus calling you, to "Come" into today?
Over to you.

Blessings & Shalom.
