“These things have I written unto you that believe on t he name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” 1 John 5:13
As a born again child of God, the Father wants you to know that the life in you now is not the natural human life you got from your human parents when you were born into the world. That human life was supplanted by divine life when you were born again. So you’re not just a mere human but a super-being indeed; born into God’s class.
1 John 5:13 shows you the importance God attaches to you knowing the life in you. He wants you to know (comprehend; come to the awareness and full perception) of what you have, and who you are: “…that ye may know that ye have eternal life.” He wants you conscious of the fact that you’re a super-being; one that’s superior to Satan, sickness and disease, and has authority over the powers of darkness.
God wants you to have this knowledge about yourself because the consciousness of your personality affects the way you live, the decisions you make, and how you eventually turn out in life. It controls what happens around you.
Eternal life is the nature of God imparted to us upon receiving Christ into our hearts, thus making us indestructible, incorruptible and superhuman. That’s the life Jesus brought to the world.
If you believe in Jesus, this God-life is what you’ve received into your spirit. The very pulsating life of Christ is the life working in you now, and God wants you to be conscious of it and live that supernatural life, naturally. This is why Christianity is not a religion, but the life of Christ lived out in you every day.
If you’re not yet born again, all you have to do is believe in Him and confess Him as your Lord to receive eternal life into your spirit, and become a brand new creature in Christ, so that God’s beauty and power can be seen in you.
