Romans 12:2 KJV

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The Christian walk is not done by osmosis it takes an effort on our part. What you sow into it, is what you'll reap. You have to mix your faith, with what your studying in order for it to take root and manifest itself.
